Minimum eligibility conditions for the Teacher Eligibility Test ( TET):
I. Age
There is no upper age limit to apply for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
II. Educational Qualification:
1. For Trained Graduate Teachers (Arts):
a. B.A./B.Com. with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)
OR
b. B.A./B.Com. with at least 45% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in accordance with NCTE (Recognition norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
c. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
OR
d. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A.Ed.
OR
e. B.A./B.Com. with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) Special Education.
2. For Trained Graduate Teachers (Non-Medical):

The candidates who have passed Prabhakar (Honours in Hindi) followed by BA Examination in English and one additional subject may be treated as equivalent to BA with Hindi for appointment to the post of Language Teacher provided the candidates have secured 50% marks in Prabhakar examination.
OR
M.A. (Hindi) with 50% marks from a recognized University.
6. For Punjabi Language Teacher:
B.A. with Punjabi as an elective subject and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education ( by whatever name known)
OR
B.A. with atleast 50% marks with Punjabi as an elective subject and 1 year bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)
OR
B.A. with atleast 45% marks with Punjabi as an elective subject and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms & Procedure)Regulation issued from time to time in this regard.

Relaxations in minimum eligibility
Relaxation upto 5% in the minimum eligibility criteria of marks shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes & Physically handicapped candidates.
Candidates appearing in final professional examination can also apply but they shall have to full-fill minimum eligibility conditions on the date of TET examination falling which they will not be allowed to take the test. Minimum qualifying marks:- The minimum qualifying marks in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is 60%.

Validity: The TET qualifying certificate would remain valid for appointment for 7 years from the date of issuance of TET certificate. There will be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a TET certificate. A person who has qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/ her score.

HP TET Exam Day Guidelines
Candidates should keep the below-mentioned points in mind on the day of HP TET 2020 exam:
- Candidates should not forget to carry their admit card to the allotted exam centre
- Along with admit card, candidates are advised to carry a photo ID prof with themselves to the exam centre
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories should carry their caste/ category certificate to the exam centre
- Candidates should reach the allotted exam centre at least two hours before the commencement of the exam
- Since HP TET is a pen-and-paper-based test, candidates should carry at least two ball point pens of black and blue colour and a pencil to the test centre
